Well to change your mind you should try living in Europe as an artist during a right and left government and you would realize that you have no reason to be a skeptic. I lived in France and worked as a Fine Artist and know the benefits of any government that supports the arts. I support and am wildly excited to make this a reality. The Secretary of Arts petition can be found here - http://www.petitiononline.com/esnyc/petition.html . Please spend some time and read the comments. There have been over 19,000 people who disagree with you and who have signed the petition in the last 24 hours. Now a total of 89,000 people believe in this dream. This has all happened without any Press... So power to the dreamers and we will even let the skeptics prosper with us.

In Canada, artists have created their own Department of Culture, http://departmentofculture.ca. While it's always nice to have friends (even in high places), the priority now is decentralization, mobilizing people to work for change.
