Last week I revisited the sacred site of the Woodstock festival, 39 years after I made my way there as a 17-year-old hippie would-be. Then I wrote about it in this week's magazine.

The whole place sounds contrived. Maybe it's my Gen X/Y skepticism and weariness for all things related to the Boomer generation, but why go to a museum to watch music videos when PBS has an endless supply of the same technicolor nostalgia?
Still, seeing the actual field and imagining the concert does hold some interest for me, even if watching it on plasma screens with strangers doesn't.
