Mr. Johnson celebrated his 85th birthday at Fallingwater. As we were standing on the terrace looking at the tower window he commented, “ You know, this is the greatest house of the 20th Century.” We then asked him, “May we quote you on that?” and he responded, “ Certainly not, I’ve designed a few houses myself you know.” I thought you might be interested to hear an anecdote about Philip Johnson and Fallingwater.
